Travelling back to the 20´s

Lucia came around my studio with a long crêpe-de-chine dress from the 90ies. A quite common model, doublelayered in aubergine and bordeaux with a flower embroidery in brown in the centre part of the dress.
She felt like recycling the dress and wanted me to change its look.
Lucia wanted to wear it on a wedding celebration in Madrid in january and also needed some kind of jacket.

After having a look at the dress on the dress form it somehow gave me a 1920ies inspiration and so I got down to work!
First step: I cut the downer part of the dress.
For the jacket we chose a brown jersey fabric an I used the left over fabric of the recently cutted dress with its embroidered part for the huge pockets, the cuffs and for the 20ies style long angled collar.
And last but not least: some special bottons for the centre front as an eye-catcher!
That was easy and really made a tremendous change!
In combination with a pearlnecklace it really looked authentic!
To complete the look we decided to make a little 20ies hat that matches perfectly with the dress and its jacket.
The left over remnants in combination with some old glass bottons and pheasant feathers are the materials used for the hat!
What do you think? Isn´t that truely UPCYCLING?
